Oscar Kakande

Communications Officer

 

Oscar Kakande is a communications specialist and emerging leader passionate about amplifying the voices of young farmers.

He is the chief editor for the Seed magazine and Seed Newsletter published by the Young Farmers’ Federation of Uganda.

He pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies at Victoria University Kampala. In his practice as a journalist, he has published several articles in print and online at the New Vision under Vision Group Printing and Publishing Company Limited, Kampala.

He is passionate about journalism and public relations and has contributed to the digital communications at the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) at the National Crops Resources Research Institute (NARO-NaCRRI) as a volunteer.

Oscar's passion for leadership led to his selection as a young leader in the Public Management Leadership Programme (PML) Cohort 4 at the Franklyn Institute, supported by the US Mission in Uganda.

With his passion for storytelling, leadership, and public relations, he is making a lasting impact in his community. He enjoys reading, writing, editing, and photography.

He is equivocal on issues concerning climate change and agriculture. As an agricultural communicator, he leverages the company’s communication channels of the Young Farmers’ Federation to encourage the audience to conserve the environment and also empower youth through publicizing inspirational content to attract more youth participation in agriculture.
