The Young Farmers’ Federation of Uganda (UNYFA) in collaboration with the German Association of Rural Women (DLV) conducted a preparation session for the female leaders of Farmer Based Organizations (FBOs) for their visa application under a project titled, “Enhancement of the Capacity of Rural Women in Agribusiness (ECAWA).”

The project aims at improving the livelihoods of 400 rural female youth in the Northern (Lira, Apac, and Oyam) and West Nile Clusters (Arua, Madi-okollo, and Maracha) of Uganda.

Our dedicated team guided these rural women with the essential knowledge and documentation to secure their Schengen visas for the upcoming international exchange program in September.

The women successfully had their visa appointments on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024. We thank our partners the German Association of Rural Women (dlv) for making this happen.

With financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) the 28 months project has at least had 20 rural women in the first cohort participate in a 10 days exposure training while in Germany last year in 2023.

20 Ugandan Rural women who participated in last year’s exchange programme

The twenty (20) Ugandan rural women travelled to Germany and they got to know the structure and activities of the German Association of Rural Women. The exchange programme further provided a platform for them to network with the members of the German Association for Rural Women.

The second cohort of the rural women is set to travel by September 2024 to learn more on advocacy, lobby and climate change.
