Introduce yourself and share what excites you most about your role at the Young Farmers’ Federation of Uganda.

My name is Nankanja Anasta though my workmates call me Anna. With over five years of service, I proudly serve as an Accounts Assistant at the Young Farmers Federation of Uganda.

I hold a Bachelors degree in Finance and accounting from MultiTech Business School. I reside in Buddo, Wakiso District, and a proud mother.

What excites me most about my role is collaborating and working towards something big, am motivated by the challenge of taking on new responsibilities and utilising my experience to make a significant impact on the company’s goals and objectives. Therefore, every single day at work is an opportunity I have to contribute to the growth of the company.

  • How does your work contribute to the success of UNYFA?

I contribute to UNYFA’s success by effectively managing cash and cash transactions, administering payroll, maintaining accurate books and records through proper book keeping and data entry. I also oversee invoicing and track income and expenses. These responsibilities culminate in preparing comprehensive financial reports and monthly accountabilities for various projects, providing a clear overview of the company’s cash flow.

  • Why should young farmers subscribe to UNYFA?

Because farming is indeed a great career choice for the youth and I believe youth would exploit its enormous opportunities that we have if they subscribe to UNYFA. Young farmers bring fresh eyes, ideas and ambitions to farming; combining their entrepreneurial spirit with tailored farming and business support can help to breathe life into fragile rural economies.

  • What does the company mission mean to you?

It means providing the youth with necessary skills, resources and opportunities to create sustainable livelihoods. This is achieved through the various interventions we give them as UNYFA such as trainings, mentorships, entrepreneurial and apprenticeship programs. They are all designed to equip and empower young people for a brighter future.

  • What are your hobbies outside of work?

I love watching movies during my free time, going out with friends, Worship and praise sessions at church and spending quality time with my son really gives me joy.
